Redeemer Presbyterian Church
Diaconate Coordinator/Performing Arts Coach
Greater New York City Area
Came to New York City in the late 60s and had a professional career as and Actor/Singer in long running shows. In the mid 70s I co-founded an The Actors' Institute, then in the 80s the Cabaret Symposium at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center with a purpose to bring honesty, realness and personal transparency into performing of great songs. In my experience working with performers I became impatient with dishonesty and surface interpretation and wanted to encourage actors/singers to open themselves to the gritty truths they were hiding. Having been drawn to The Lord and saved in the early 90s I the have found that my earlier knowledge of the creative process has become much richer through the lens of God. In 2006 as a Deaconess at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, I began working with members who came to the Diaconate for spiritual, practical and emotional needs and have found that experience to deepen my understanding of God's Grace, his love, his generosity and his kindness. It is a laboratory of how God can overcome difficulties through faith and prayer. The lives of those in need have instructed me deeply and it has enriched my coaching. Though most of my time is working for the Diaconate, I still keep my hand in and have just finished a 2 day Cabaret workshop at The Boston Conservatory for the 2nd year Grad students. Both roles seemed integrated now and there is a smoother flow between my 2 worlds. Favorite scripture: " Come see a Man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" - John 4:29
